Earlier today we noted that Donald Trump had gone days without posting anything on his Truth Social account. Sure, there were the kinds of links and multimedia posts that Trump wouldn’t know how to format, and were surely posted by his staff on his behalf. But there were no actual Trump meltdowns.
It was enough to make you wonder what had spooked Trump into such prolonged silence. Did his newly hired attorney manage to temporarily convince him to go quiet and stop harming his own case? Did Trump end up getting news that was even worse than the Jack Smith 1/6 target letter?
In any case, Trump is now suddenly trying to make up for lost time with a rapid fire heaping of meltdowns that are completely over the top and yet somehow generic in nature; we’ve heard this all before. Garland, Smith, Mueller, Bragg, Willis, and some other unnamed people are all secretly plotting against Trump for some unstated reason. Oh, and Trump keeps sharing conspiracy theory posts from Ted Nugent for good measure.
So what’s going on? Something occurred that shut Trump up for a few days, voluntarily or otherwise. And now he’s back with a vengeance. But he’s still not really saying anything. He’s just posting the same old tired things over and over again. If anything, the only thing that’s new is just how manic he’s being with his posting, after having spent so many days being so uncharacteristically silent.
The whole thing points to increasing erraticism on Donald Trump’s part. And that makes sense, given that for the first time in his life, there’s literally nothing Trump can do to worm his way out of the situation he’s in. There’s no right answer for how to handle his mounting criminal indictments. There’s no play, no strategy that’ll get him out of it. By now, with the felony counts racking up, even he probably knows that. And so he’s doing what all barely-held-together sociopaths do when it finally, truly starts falling apart for them: he’s falling apart himself.
