If he doesn’t already, Donald Trump will soon know what a rat feels when he’s caught in a trap. Not only will he be defending himself in the classified documents case in Florida, the election subversion case in D.C., and the hush money case in New York, but charges against Trump in Georgia could be coming as early as this week. Appearing on CNN Saturday, former Georgia Lieutenant Governor Geoff Duncan revealed that he has been summoned to testify before the grand jury Tuesday, August 15. Witnesses were told beforehand that they would receive at least 48 hours’ notice of their appearance, and Duncan confirmed that he received notice Saturday.

Speaking with CNN Saturday, Duncan said: “I will certainly be there to do my part in recounting the facts.” Duncan is not on “team Trump,” and he said about his upcoming testimony: “It is important for Republicans to hear, for Americans to hear. Let’s hear the whole truth and nothing but the truth about Donald Trump’s actions and the surrounding cast of characters around him.” He went on to say that the events that happened in Georgia were “tragic and untruthful.” He believes that while Trump will have the opportunity to say he knew nothing about what was going on, “he knew exactly what they were doing.”

When Republicans around the country refused to support Trump’s lies, Trump went after them. It did him no good in Georgia, as both Brian Kemp and Brad Raffensperger handily won reelection. Now, they will have their opportunity to tell what really happened in Georgia, and it is unlikely that any of that testimony will benefit Trump. In addition to Duncan’s testimony on Tuesday, independent journalist George Chidi posted that he has also been told to appear Tuesday.

Now, some may be wondering who George Chidi is and what he has to do with Trump’s election interference in Georgia. Chidi happened to step into a meeting of the Georgia fake electors on the day he went to watch Stacey Abrams and the Democratic delegation cast their electoral votes for President Joe Biden. When he learned that Republicans were having a private meeting in another room of the Capitol, he entered and saw Republicans preparing “a competing-and potentially illegal-slate of their own.” Chidi was almost immediately thrown out of the room, but he was there long enough to figure out what was going on and made no secret of his knowledge. He will now be testifying about that knowledge before the grand jury next week.

The walls are literally closing in on Donald Trump. How he plans to continue his run for president while he is defending numerous criminal charges will be interesting. He has been accused of multiple felonies, all of which are detrimental to the interests of the United States and its citizens. If he had any sense at all, he would drop of out the race, but we know he won’t. We will see how things pan out, but it is doubtful that Trump will be able to continue his sham run for the White House.
