President of Iran is going to meet Putin in Moscow: What is the purpose of visit

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian plans to visit Moscow. The meeting will take place in the second half of January, RIA Novosti reports.

Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali stated that Pezeshkian plans to visit Moscow on January 17.

According to the ambassador, the Iranian president plans to sign an agreement on cooperation between Tehran and Moscow with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Yesterday, RBC-Ukraine reported that Russia and Iran are planning to sign a new strategic partnership agreement. This may happen on the eve of the inauguration of US President-elect Donald Trump.

Iran and Russia currently cooperate in the military, economic, and energy sectors.

Russia is an important supplier of military equipment to Iran. And Iran provides Russia with military assistance in the war against Ukraine. In particular, Russia receives Shahed kamikaze drones from Iran, which the Russian forces regularly use to attack civilian infrastructure in Ukraine.
