Kobakhidze arrives in Baku to discuss economic co-operation

A delegation of the Georgian government headed by Irakli Kobakhidze arrived in Azerbaijan on Friday.

Within the framework of the visit, a meeting of the Georgian-Azerbaijani intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation will be held with the participation of members of the government of the two countries.

According to the press service of the Georgian government, President Ilham Aliyev will also meet with Irakli Kobakhidze, after which they will make a joint statement to the press.

There will also be a separate meeting between the Georgian PM and his Azerbaijani counterpart Ali Asadov.

The Georgian delegation includes Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili, Minister of Foreign Affairs Maka Bochorishvili, Head of the Ministry of Agriculture David Songulashvili, Minister of Culture Tinatin Rukhadze and Head of the Government Administration Levan Jorjoliani.

Turan News Agency has learnt that within the framework of the visit Kobahidze will take part at the ceremony of  еру foundation of the building of the Embassy of Georgia in Azerbaijan.

As a reminder, the Georgian Dream government formed as a result of the disputed elections has not yet been recognised by the West.

Note that Kobakhidze and members of his cabinet have not had any official foreign visits so far.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev was among less than a dozen world leaders who congratulated the Georgian Dream on its victory in the Parliamentary elections.
